The past few months I've had the privilege of working within the MMA world capturing interviews of Bas Rutten, Rashad Evans, Don Frye, Roy Nelson, and many more fighters. It's been a great experience and I'm enjoying the opportunity. I'm a big fan of the sport and I've gained a new perspective from the experience. There's a big difference from seeing a fight on TV and being ringside, and backstage interviewing the fighters after the events.
Royce Gracie is one of the most important people to the growth of MMA. This month marks the 20th anniversary for the UFC -- Royce Gracie was the winner of the first UFC tournament back in 1993 which made him the first UFC champion. I'm currently editing an interview of him for The Hollywood MMA Show. Stay tuned and Subscribe at YouTube.com/MMAShowNews
I can't believe it's been 10 years since the cedar fire. I remember waking up on the morning of October 26, 2003 and seeing the sky filled with smoke. I had no idea what was going on, but I decided to grab my video camera and document my experience. Below is a video I put together the week of the fires.
Saturday September 28, 2013 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. the Glory Middleweight Tournament took place along with a handful of other kickboxing fights. It was a very entertaining night of kickboxing to say the least. There's something different about kickboxing as opposed to MMA, being that there's only three, three-minute rounds so the fighters really have to press the action and go toe to toe.
Joe Schilling and Artem Levin were both successful against their opponents which lead the two to square off to fight for the second time of the night to determine who is the Glory Middleweight Champion. I was ringside taking photos, and as a spectator of the fight it felt like I was watching the Jone vs. Gustaffson fight which took place just a week before. In this case it was a kickboxing match, and I wouldn't say it was as one-sided as the Gustaffson-Jones fight but it was very close. So close that Schilling and Levin went on to fight for a sudden death deciding fourth-round after the judges determined the fight a draw. Joe Schilling came out victorious over Levin and won the $150,000 prize and became the Glory Middleweight Champion. Checkout the post-fight interview of Joe Schilling by David Kano of The Hollywood MMA Show.

I came across this picture recently and I believe it's of me recording on my first video camera. After searching online to try to figure out what camera it is, it looks like the Sony Handycam CCD-TRV68 model. However, something about the Sony Handycam CCD-TRV43 model looks familiar to me too. Either way, I think this is the oldest picture I have of me video taping after I gained interest in video taping. I'm sure I probably have a video of me in the reflection of a mirror that could help me figure this out. Although in the early 2000s I didn't always archive my videos because I was just a kid running out of video tape and most of the time I re-recorded over my Hi8 video tapes. Anyways, this photo is from 2002 at a birthday party. As you can see I haven't picked up my skills yet, but I did use the ladder for some extra height LOL!
